The Blissful Years of Lousy Living (Báječná léta pod psa, 1997)

The story of an ordinary family living in Czechoslovakia takes place from around 1963 until the Velvet Revolution and is based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Michal Wiewegh. The lives of a young couple - Aleš and Milena - change dramatically following the Russian invasion of Prague in 1968. The family moves to the country and tries to cope with new challenges. This film is about growing up, enjoying life, making compromise and little victories and tragedies of everyday life of an average Czechoslovak family. Also known as "The Wonderful Years that Sucked".
